This picture has a story behind it like a National Geographic documentary. The two adolescent lions were using this convenient mound of earth to gain a vantage point from which to view the surrounding grassland. They were becoming quite anxious as the two hyenas crept ever closer to their location. The hyenas grew bolder as they approached, but little did they know that a young adult lion was lying in the grass between them and the two youths. You can see the top of its head in the photo. When they came within a couple of meters of its hiding place, the young adult sprang up and chased them away, swiping at their hindquarters as he ran. Nice action.
