To reach the top on the day of the summit an early morning rise is in order. Ice crunches beneath your boots on the trail that remains in the morning shadows. A couple of hours into the ascent and you reach Jackson´s tarn. At this hour and without the breath of a wind it makes a brilliant natural mirror reflecting East Africa´s highlands. A perfect breakpoint as well, we stayed here for some time hypnotized by its glassy waters.
